Crafting Commission Work

The ole age of pimping oneself to pick up work "AKA" Commission Work. How does one go about it. My first answer is always "A lot of Luck" but it's become more then that these days. We are hungry and Jorge says that's the best form of getting work. Often a successful business once on top become less about the little people and slack for the better word because they are not hungry.
We can not depend on the working world any longer it's not a secure world any longer and having a fall-back has become the number 1 thing in our life - having our lives rely on a single movement is not an option any longer. Too many changes, too many or too little attitudes and it's a stressful living from check to check. And so we have become bull grabbing by the horns and taking some major risk to un-starve ourselves by our own power.

Commission work (Custom Orders) is becoming a dream come true for us and it's been a hard road to get to. But we are reaching it... Even I have been getting on the wagon train (everyone knows how hard I PIMP Jorge that folks seem to forget I have some hidden talents too) with commission work - I have 5 woodburning pieces I am contracted to do (1 is a super challenge for me and I am so excited)...

So what does this have to do with my blogging readers. Well I am here to remind you that you have starving friends who could use the help. So before you get into your car to head for the hills and purchase junk made from machines who have no souls - contract your friend to work. It's about time we get back into helping each other out. Some of the most wonderful Mums stay home to raise their families and support their husband rely on such at home work...   Barder - can't afford the price BARDER trust me this helps.... I do this myself and it has helped big time in our lives (right Chrissy?) Keep spreading the wealth of friendship-service-barder-products by looking at your backyard first...

Revenge Help lol

I hate not having inet - I really do. July 14th is when we get it back and I am so counting down the days.

We are having a major blast up here in Idaho!! Things are getting done and we are ready for summer - it's been raining A LOT here and well we are ready for sunshine for more then one day at a time. I am wearing a jacket still - can you believe that.... EEEEK and it's a great thing we 100% adore the big boss here. They have been beyond wonderful!! And having our friends on the other end of the gate has been a complete joy.... She's so easy to pick on and I need to plan a little revenge on here and turn to my blogging world to help me cook one up.

I am a freak about being ready and not having someone wait for me. I think it's rude to make people wait and I never want to do that to anyone. Well my little smarty pants friend knows this and decided to show up a 1/2 hour earlier just to be funny about - I so panicked and now it's revenge time.... Any ideas? Let me know in the comment form. This has to be all in fun of course I do love my Sue!!

So let me sign off with some pictures of our area and what we've been up to. And know that we really miss our blogging world friends!! It's just cool to go so long with out blogging!!

And here are some fun pictures to share....

Fun Colors, Fun History about Colors

The first color wheel has been attributed to Sir Isaac Newton, who in 1706 arranged red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet into a natural progression on a rotating disk. As the disk spins, the colors blur together so rapidly that the human eye sees white. From there the organization of color has taken many forms, from tables and charts, to triangles and and wheels the history.

The History of Paint
Color has fascinated culture throughout history, every age and every region has produced dyes and pigment depending on the available resources. Color has been with us for more than 20,000 years. Evidence survives in early cave paintings and the ancient Chinese are considered to have brought its manufacture and use to a state of perfection tens of thousands of years ago.

Color was widely used by the ancient Egyptians and was considered to have magical and healing properties and around this time, 1500 BC, paint making as an art became quite widely established in Crete and Greece with the Egyptians passing their skills to the Romans. It was between 600 BC-AD 400 that the Greeks and Romans then introduced varnishes. For the Aztec Indians red dye was considered more valuable than gold and both the Indians and Chinese practiced Color Healing. A 2000 year old, Chinese chronicle, The Nei/ching, records color diagnoses.

The History of Hair Dye Colors
By Noreen Braman, eHow Contributor updated: April 20, 2010
Archaeologists have found evidence that as far back as the Neanderthals, humans have been using various things to change the color of both hair and skin. Ancient Gauls and Saxons dyed their hair various vibrant colors to show rank and to instill fear into enemies on the battlefield. Babylonian men sprinkled gold dust into their hair. By the time of the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, plant and animal matter were being used on a regular basis to color hair. The very first mixtures could only darken the hair, but methods were found to bleach hair blond, often by exposing the painted hair to sunlight for hours. Throughout history, various means have been used to produce a full spectrum of hair dye colors.

Getting Ready for May for Me

May for Me? What is this all about? Click on any word "MAY" and it will take you to the very link that is the leader of all this fun in the whole crafting world. Again all MAY words will take you to the direct link. Rules and all the info is there for you to get started - and the best part is there are so many gift giveaways that you're not going to want to miss out on....

What I am doing for "MAY for me" is to learn how to crochet toys. The whole entire month I will be posting patterns I am working on - followed up with pictures of me crying in the process (kidding - I think). And the story line as to why I picked that particular pattern.

Now whats cool about "MAY for me" is that my husband is getting in on the fun with devoting the entire month of sewing new clothes for me... I know - I know I am so spoiled. But he'll be sewing up PJ's for himself as well. And as a double bonus we'll add his take on the whole "MAY for me" on the blog as well.

We are both excited and we are working very hard getting our RV re-organized in time to start off "MAY for me" - here is just a few pictures to show you how extreme of a change we are doing. We built a wall and everything - it's just plain crazy and I so love it... We are getting all new bins next week and so everything will have a place and be labeled and life will be easier for us in the crafting RV world.

So you can see we still have a long ways to go. Don't worry I have plans for the walls with some cool crafty art... Jorge will be sewing up the pillows tomorrow (popcorn fabric) and then all we have to do is wait for the storage containers and gadgets and we are so ready for "MAY for me"

My Title Granny Square Queen

When I first joined campground_crafters I was just learning how to do a granny square. Once I learned how to make a granny square blanket it was all I made for the first year. LOL and today was a reminder of that time in my life - which had earned me the nickname in our group "Granny Square Queen"... We have 6 king sized granny square blankets in our rig... Today is laundry day and well guess what got washed...

My husband constructed a couch that converts into a bed on the lower floor so that we can use the over cab as storage... And OMG it has open the floor and looks huge and clean in here. In the next couple of weeks with purchases of new bins we will re-organized the entire rig so that we can be 100% clean/organized/set-up/and just plain happy again... I am so jazzed because I will get to blog and share our adventures and tips with our followers... Jorge has a lot of sewing he'll be doing to in the next couple of days too - popcorn fabric will be used on the body pillows and my black and white granny square will set off the them in our movie theme rig... Thrilled...

I really hope to get some sales going in the store to pay for all of our storage container and gadgets to make like easier for us - since we are keeping "MrCrafty" another year... So with Easter nearing soon stop by any of shops and see if there is anything you need or want and remember we do custom orders (like yesterday a lady order applique stars and I had them in the mail with 2 hours of her order - I made them that quick to get them out of the rig ASAP - I like my customers happy...). One of our stores is having a sale so be sure to check them all out..

My Swiffer Cloth

I am a bit of a tree hugger and even more so, I like to save money where I can. Now most of my readers know that I full-time in our 24ft RV and so cleaning is a major issue. I have pergo floors (I can't stand carpet) because it's easier to sweep the floor and then use a swiffer to wash the floor.

And so today - I decided to save even more money by making my own swiffer cleaner cloths. And the best part is that after each use - I throw the cloth in the wash instead of the trash. I love my EARTH. And I am saving so much more money now on not having to buy the dang cloths to begin with. I'd rather support myself then Walmart.... PERIOD!

And so this is what I made today and holly cow it works great and even can scrub some deep dirt spots better then the cheaply cloths you buy. After use take it off and throw it in the wash and then start over again!! Isn't life wonderful?

For Sale for $3.50 and can be done in ANY color...
