It's been a terrible week for me. I can't knit - non of my friends called me this week and no one to hang out with in Idaho. So I was stuck with a book. I sneak knit in the morning because by 9-10am it starts getting warm and then it gets to the point I can't knit any longer. Yarn and I do not get along in the heat. Never have never will. And this weekend was super quiet because I think everyone else in the world is pouting right along with me....
Whining - Whining - and plenty more of that if I was aloud to.... LOL
They say it's going to start getting cooler tomorrow and boy I could us that right now!! I have 9 pairs of mitten done - 5 of which are for sale and the others are for donation to our Charities. I really try to divide the products because we'll we need to make the money and it's our way to also give back. I had so much yarn this summer and even had a ton given to me BUT would you believe I am almost out. Which is a good that it was so hot this week because next week I'd be whining about not having any yarn to work with and so do you see a pattern that "I am a good for nothing whiner"....
This summer is almost done and we'll be heading back to our winter stay. I can't wait for a number of reasons - Jorge and I joke that we will run the moment the rig is parked first hugs and then for the shower - yes a stand up shower... No we don't stink - it's just this summer we have to shower in a unique position (there a deleted moment that I encourage you all to do). We are shopping for a newer used rig as we speak. Next summer if we are asked back will be a much easier shower situation for us lol...
Ok so back to knitting... It's just been one of those weeks where you feel like the world is against you in every direction. Your wrong when you are right or your right when you are wrong... So in honor of my whining here are some pictures....
But first....
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Have you had a good week or bad week?
Leave your hug or kick in the butt
in the comment box - would love either of them..
I will add the other pictures tomorrow - I have cute pink ones with stripes...
Well since I have to be up before the chickens now, I lose a lot of crafting time now. I work from approx 4am till approx 11-12noon Mon thru Fri now (I use to be able to take the same days off as my husband but now my boss has a ton of research for me to do this summer and so now I can't until January - but I dare not complain because I get to work from the comfort of my rig).
And so today is my last day of work (shhhhh I got to take this Wed/Thurs off but no more). And so after I completed my work day - I decided to start on a new set of mittens. LOL but the phone kept ringing and time kept creeping by and so here is where I am at. I also want to thank Pat from Campground_Crafter for helping me today with a knitting question. It means a lot to me when someone of her skills takes the time to help little ole me.
This summer was suppose to be about learning new skills and I am so failing in this department - Sue a lady who is working for the same company as my husband is also from Campground_Crafter has taught me one stitch and I am grateful for that. And so now I am pushing the issue and turning to youtube and my personal videos I've purchased to learn more. After all this is more then just a hobby for us. We do run 4 stores and would like people to continue to purchase our things and to be able to ask if I can make something and I can jump up and say - That? Heck yes I can do that up for you.
And so today after finishing up with my work - I head outside with my husband and sat to knit. After dinner (we eat outside as we do most days) my husband was looking at the table he made (yep it's a poor mans table but you know what? It was made with love) and says "Wow your knitting is so natural and beautiful". And so he snapped a pictures and here's what it looks like.
I love it. And so tomorrow with my having the entire day off - will work on the rest of my project and get her up for sale ASAP.... But oooooh there is a 40% chance of rain tomorrow - so it maybe a movie day with knitting (hey either way I am knitting and for me that's a dream come true)...
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Did you know that Daisies are my favorite flower and so
Knitting is a bit of a challenge for me and yesterday I had told you all that today I would attempt my first mitten set. Well as any good crafter knows "trial and error" is the secret to our success lol... I know where my boo boo's where made and so tomorrow I will go forth and start making them for the store. So here is the mitten I promise my viewers... Again this was all about "trail and error"... No tears but dang knitting 2 stitches together was a challenge because it was tight and hard to do... Other then that it wasn't that bad....
ng I wanted to share with you all what my plans are for tomorrow. I am a little scared but ready to move a step up in my knitting world. I am praying that I can at least get one complet mitten finished (I didn't want to press my luck and commit to two lol). Keep your fingers crossed and hope to post pictures (of me NOT crying lol).... I think I will do fine!!
Back to elementary terms and quotes kids. So I apologize if I get the name of stitches wrong and such. I am one of those who learn best by watching someone else crocheting/knitting/beading - you know stuff like that. However my art work by hand in wood burning is all me....
So two years ago I started teaching myself how to crochet. I really, really tried to learn from my mother in-law but the language barrier was too much for me. Her strong Cuban accent was just to hard for me to understand and her little fingers went way too fast. Two years later I think the sweet lady would be proud...
I have come a long, long ways from day one. LOL my squares where anything but squares. I couldn't get my ends to match to save my life. Oh I would cry (I am so not kidding) and throw my crochet hook on the floor or at my husband - today we laugh at those memories and his puck marks from the pings on poor Jorge. and the worst was when I was learning the granny square - I know I have mention this before here. And so with the reminder of my terrible crocheting fits now lets add knitting to the scene. But you know what? Knitting was so easy for me...
So why do I crochet more then I knit? It's easy - I enjoy it more and I can do so many cute little things faster - and faster means money... In the last two months I have made it a point to learn one new thing a week when it comes to the yarn world. I am so happy now because I am even starting to read patterns now without screaming because what the heck is a HDC? Ah-ha I know now Half Double Crochet.... LOL I know you crochet experts think I am a turd but these things do not come easy for me. Truly I work my hardest on my projects and pour my love into it.
Today I was watching a crocheting video and was repeating the steps in (which I got on the first try) out loud and my husband says "Wow honey you really know this stuff now - don't you?" And then follows with "I am so proud of you". Which brought up the talk, about how much I have improved over the last two years.
The one thing that any crocheter or knitter needs is support. No matter the level - really in any form of crafting, support is so needed. These things whether advanced or easy takes lots of time to make and I'm sorry we are paid so little for the labor that goes into any project. And so I ask myself "why do I put myself through this?" EASY I love yarns.... I love advancing - and I love when people ask me for to make them a handmade item. That about pride and pride is allow in the crafting world.
I love thinking about the "Past" of my crocheting world and have had many laughs on how silly I was and often enough say "Oh yeah I've made those same mistakes" and loving in the "Future" when someone calls out for advice or for help or even better a sale because they just had to have one of my treasures...
My newest item I now know how to make is.... A way cool flower!!
I can crochet and surf the web at the same time!! GIFTED...

What was your project? Was it easy or hard?

When I first starting crocheting - my very first thing I learned to do was the GRANNY SQUARE. Although I laugh now but it took me 3 months to learn such an easy thing. No I am not stupid but I let the stress get the best of me. I figured because I am a girl it would come natural. Yeah right... However all is good and now I can have some great laugh over it. But Jorge is still recovering from all the hooks being thrown at him.
It's been about 2 month since doing my last granny square. I've been very busy learning new stitches and add in some knitting (which did come a lot easier for some weird odd reason). But that crazy itch is in place and whats on my plate for today...
OK so I am bored due to being stuck in the town of Bend, OR due to the snow and weather alert going on for this area till 4pm today. Which means we are staying another night here (remember we are RV full timers).
I floated around the Walmart Craft section looking for clearance items - a must do in any craft store to bang my bucks.... And today they seem to be wiped out in the good deals department - this tells me they get a lot of bad weather here and the house wife muck this department (for crying out loud there is a worn out walking path - lol). Now I am sitting at the McDonald's surfing the web to kill some time.... tic tock - tic tock for Pete sakes hurry time hurry...
Here is some other funny weird things I found... Enjoy! And if you get bord like I do - don't do what I do just shop at any of my 4 stores - and that will keep you busy for sure...
I do hope you enjoyed this BLOG enough to leave a comment! Often I wonder who looks and the only way to tell is when a wonderful person who took the time to read this places a comment in the comment feed box - a girls has to feel some kind of love from her followers!!
