2012 Special Olympics Scarf Project

Today is like any other day where the minute I get up the cell phone goes on and the first thing I do is say a little prayer that there may be a sale or two in any of our stores and then check my emails right there on my phone - you see it's faster that way as opposed to waiting for the big computer to get all powered up...

Today was the same as the last 5 days NOTHING but a wonderful email was in place of the lack of sales...

Hi there, Have you heard ...
Hi there,

Have you heard of the Special Olympics Scarf Project? I'm coordinating it for Special Olympics Oregon this year, and I'm sending this message to Etsy sellers in the state in the hopes that you will join us!

We are looking for handmade scarves to distribute to athletes, coaches, and volunteers at the 2012 Winter Games. Scarves must be between 54" and 60" long, and 6" wide; they may be made in any pattern as long as they incorporate both of the official colors: Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red 0319 and Soft Navy 0387, OR Red Heart Soft Really Red 9925 and Navy 4604.

Detailed information on the project, including scarf guidelines and shipping information, can be found here:
scarvesforspecialolympics.org/states/view/37

Our goal is 700 scarves by 9 February 2012, so we need all the participants we can get! Even if you can't participate yourself, please pass on this information to anyone you know who might be interested-- help us get the word out!

If you have any questions about the project, please e-mail me at
mollyjmadison@gmail.com

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

Cheers,
Molly Madison

What is the Scarf Project?

Welcome to the 2012 Special Olympics USA Scarf Project!
The official colors are now posted here, along with further tools for you to use under the Stitcher Resources tab.
Handmade scarves donated as a result of the 2012 Special Olympics USA Scarf Project will be a symbol of unity, support, compassion and empowerment, as the Special Olympics athletes, coaches, families, volunteers and supporters wear them with pride in knowing they have become part of the Special Olympics family.
